Kate Coombs, one of my fellow authors at The Enchanted Inkpot, has asked us to share with her the pitches of our works in progress.
I thought it was a brilliant idea until I tried to write mine and came out with … nothing.
To solve my problem I decided to learn from the experts.
I went to the Library of Congress online catalog (http://catalog.loc.gov/) and studied the blurbs from books I have read.
What do all these blurbs have in common?
- They are written as one-sentence statements and
- introduce the main character and the problem he/she must overcome.
